This article describes the features available for a simplified analysis of comments collected within surveys, to support faster action-taking.
What are sensitive comments?
Sensitive comments detected by the Zest tool come from surveys (Surveys and Engageomètre) and interviews, and are written by survey participants in response to a question asked within it.
Our algorithm identifies and classifies comments according to 3 levels (moderate sensitivity, high sensitivity, and very high sensitivity). To do this, we rely on the following technologies:
- A library of monitored words (harassment, burnout, etc.) categorized by theme (distress, health, etc.)
- A "quantifiers" sub-module that isolates terms likely to modify sensitive expressions by specifying an intensity, a degree, or a variation in quantity — whether increasing or decreasing. This allows us to adjust the weight of expressions built around the same core term (e.g. "stress"), even though they don't carry the same meaning ("a lot of stress," "no stress," "more and more stress," etc.)
- A combination of technologies also used in word cloud generation
Since results come from an algorithm, there may be discrepancies compared to a more nuanced human analysis. We therefore recommend verifying the information provided before taking action.

How can I access these comments?
There are several ways to access comments detected as sensitive:
- Zest sends a real-time email to the person designated in the permissions table to inform them that a sensitive comment has been detected in a survey.
- When analyzing a Survey, an Engageomètre, or an Interview, Zest highlights comments detected as sensitive to inform the user.
- When analyzing questions containing comments, a filter is available to display only sensitive comments. For interviews, you can filter to see only the interviews to prioritize that contain sensitive responses.

What is the purpose of sensitive comment detection?
Sensitive comment detection serves to:
→ Quickly identify comments that require urgent action
→ Instantly alert managers and HR teams for even faster action-taking
→ Trigger a conversation (anonymous or not) with the participant who wrote the comment, as quickly as possible, from a Survey or an Engageomètre. This feature is not yet available in the Interviews module.
