❓ How does preloading and adding Skills for evaluation work in a Review?
When configuring a Review in Zest, you can evaluate your Employees’ Skills using two modes: preloading and manual addition.
✅ Preloading Skills
- Existing Skills in the system (resulting from an import) can be automatically displayed in the Review.
- Each preloaded Skill includes:
- A title and a description,
- An owner (the Employee),
- A status (upcoming, in progress, etc.),
- An initial progress value (default: 0%).
- The Employee and the manager can then evaluate them during the Review according to the selected configuration (e.g. scale, progress, comments).

➕ Add non-preloaded Skills
- It is also possible to add new Skills directly during the Review.
- These Skills created “on the go” will feed into the Employee’s Skills page.
- They can then be tracked and updated in Zest like any other Skill.
⚠️ Important points to remember
- Preloading ensures that already defined key Skills automatically appear in the evaluation.
- Manual addition makes it possible to complete or adapt the evaluation to the Employee’s actual situation.
- The choice of question type during configuration (e.g. “Skill Evaluation” or “Skill Progress”) determines whether the evaluation has a direct impact on the “Skill” object (updated in Zest) or whether it remains limited to the Review.
